The Greenwich Hotel in New York is a uniquely curated space. Every room is different, and each piece in each room is hand selected. The desire of the new site is showing off these amazing rooms, and beautiful interiors.

Role

Worked with Sardine Academy to redesign and produce the Greenwich Hotel’s website. The end result uses huge, scaling images that are the background for every page, creating an experience that is emmersed in moody photos.

Wattzon Website and Identity

Designed WattzOn, a tool for calculating personal energy consumption. Collaborated with Saul Griffith, leading thinker on the energy crisis and president of Makani Power, to translate his team’s scientific findings into relevant and easily consumable infograhics.

Role

Collaborated with lead mathematician to create a clear, concise visual representation of an individual’s energy consumption story. Acted as Creative Director for all communication pieces for the WattzOn project. Worked with the web development team to create user-friendly design for an engaging website experience. Also created WattzOn Identity.

Saul Griffith’s Energy Literacy Presentation

Inventor, engineer and MacArthur Genius Grant-winner Dr. Saul Griffith has been touring the country sharing his personal energy audit. I worked with Saul and mathematician Jim McBride to develop their energy findings into a refined presentation.

Role

Collaborated with Saul and lead mathematician Jim McBride to create a visual representation of Saul’s energy consumption story. Developed a visual language and style for the presentation and worked to contain the disparate information graphics into a cohesive look.

Make Magazine

While working at Albertson Design, I created the founding identity and art direction for Make Magazine, technology book publisher O’Reilly Media’s DIY Technology quarterly magazine.

Role

Founding Art Director and Designer of Make Magazine. Produced the initial design concepts for the magazine launch, and carried the art direction and design through 7 volumes.

Responsible for:

Art direction of photography and illustration. Also all design for 192 pages of content, per volume.

Accolades

Make Magazine was selected for the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museums 2006 Triennial Design Life Now.

GOOD Magazine Transparencies

Illustrated and designed infographics for Transparency, GOOD Magazine’s front section.

Role

Designed and Illustrated pages under the creative direction of David Albertson, while employed at Albertson Design.

Top. This spread from the Transparency section illustrates the amount of money people make, the percentage of the population that make that amount, the amount they pay in taxes and their bracket, and the amount that is left over. 1. This page is the section opener, it shows the most expensive URLs made to scale on the page, the most expensive being the largest. 2. The last page of the section is a timeline of Bono’s career in both music and activism, along with a side bar timeline of his sunglasses.

NV/da Architects Identity
